Step 1 – Locate the Leak
The best and most definite way to identify exactly where the refrigerant leak has occurred is to use a gas leak detector. This type of detector will specifically detect the leak from a refrigerant coolant. You can easily locate the exact leak area if you monitor the cylinder by a detector. The detector alerts the user by providing audio-visual signal. In addition, you can apply soap oil on the spot to ascertain the leak. Once the leak spot is identified, you must rectify it immediately.

Step 2 – Remove the Refrigerant
Before beginning to repair the unit, you need to remove the entire refrigerant from the cylinder. To do this, you must connect a refrigerant pump to the cylinder and empty the refrigerant coolant completely. Pump usage and connections may vary slightly depending on the manufacturer.
